A vision for artists and churches
I weep for the artist who has never experienced the joy of pursuing excellence in the context of faith.
I weep for the church that has never experienced the power of a spirit-filled creative community filled with artists who have a passion to serve and a passion for the church.
I agonize for artists who struggle to control their personality or effectively channel their gifting. Many artists have never had the opportunity to develop a level of character, integrity and faith that matches the level of skill that they possess in their art.
My heart is saddened by the miscommunication between artists, churches, leadership and their families.
My heart is saddened by the realization that God’s vision for the crucial place of creativity in all aspects of the life of the church is often not seen or experienced. In most cases, it is only a step away - the step of taking time to study the rich resources in God’s word. Many artists, church leaders, family members and those in the pew, have never had the opportunity to catch God’s vision for the arts in the church.
God has now provided the opportunity for me to come alongside artists and churches to build a spirit-filled creative community. The artist that is part of such a community must be shaped by the Word and find a harmony between art and faith, culture and church. Scripture leads the artist to a maturity expressed in the accolade given to King David, “a person after God’s own heart.” Scripture provides teaching that helps the church harness and control God’s gift of the creative process.
Years of full time ministry have allowed me to see the incredible impact of taking this step. I strongly believe that a vibrant spirit-filled artistic community springboards the local churches effectiveness in evangelism, fellowship, discipleship and worship.
